City of Madras
Public Works Department
The City of Madras Public Works Department enforce their Weed Abatement Ordinance Program May through September, annually. This program serves as preventative care to our community by removing dry brush and grasses that may easily catch flame.
Typically, program enforcement notices will run in the newspaper in May. Early warning/reminder letters to previous year vacant lot owners will be mailed in early May as well. City staff will provide photographs and letters to those property owners not compliant with the weed abatement progrm throughout the weed abatement enforcement season.
Property owners are given ample time to clear their lots prior to the City's notices of non-compliance. Again, we thank you for your continued cooperation in helping us prevent disasterous conditions in our community by clearing your vacant lots during the Weed Abatement Program.
