URBAN RESERVE AREA
The City of Madras and Jefferson County studed the land around Madras for the purpose of adopting an Urban Reserve Area (URA). Urban Reserves are areas that have first priority for being included in an Urban Growth Boundary. The Study Area (see map) included more than 12,000 acres.
Several public meeting and hearings were held in various locations and numerous dates to provide information, receive comments and to take testimony in regard to adopting this Urban Reserve Area.
Two joint City/County Planning Commission public hearings were held; however seperate deliberations on this subject were conducted.
A joint City Council/County Commission public hearing was held and seperate deliberations were conducted as well.
